Abstract
This paper presents a numerical investigation of the counter-intuitive response in elastic, perfectly plastic square plates subjected to impulsive loading. A map of the counter-intuitive region is obtained based on non-dimensional numbers. Asymmetrical response of square plates in the counter-intuitive region is also reported.
